A Japanese pastry chef, Matteo Sanclicka, has created what is believed to be the world’s thinnest chocolate, named Corteccia. Measuring just 0.03 millimeters thick, the chocolate is designed to melt instantly in the mouth. Launched in February 2024 at MATTE Bottega del Cioccolato in Tokyo, Corteccia draws inspiration from Italian dessert traditions. Sanclicka aimed to push the boundaries of chocolate confectionery with this innovative creation. The ultra-thin design presents a significant engineering challenge in its production. The dessert has garnered attention for its unique texture and rapid melting point, offering a novel chocolate experience.
