A recently completed official diagnostic report, submitted to the National Public Education Administration (ANEP), has identified significant pedagogical disconnects in the transition from primary to secondary education in Uruguay. The report highlights a “methodological divorce” between teaching approaches in elementary school and high school, creating challenges for students. Analysis focused on core subjects including mathematics, language, and science, revealing inconsistencies in curriculum and instruction. These "disconnects" impact student learning as they move to higher levels of education. The findings suggest a need for greater alignment in teaching methods and content across the educational stages. The ANEP will now consider the report's recommendations for improvement to address this critical issue and support student success. This report aims to improve academic continuity and student performance.
