APU Ltd., a Mongolian company, has quietly implemented a three-year initiative to improve employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Faced with high employee turnover and difficulty meeting legal quotas, the company partnered with Rechtus LLC to launch “APU 1: Equal Access to Employment,” “APU 2: Stable Employment,” and “APU 3: Sustainable Change.” The project aimed to move beyond simply fulfilling quotas and instead focus on creating productive work environments for individuals with disabilities. The company’s HR director, J. Ichinkhorloo, emphasizes a philosophy of empowerment rather than charity, seeking ways to maximize the contributions of all employees. The initiative was spurred by broader shifts in the labor market, accelerated by the pandemic and digital transformation, which created workforce instability. By addressing the root causes of employment barriers, APU Ltd. hopes to achieve both social impact and economic benefits.
