A member of the Quốc hội (National Assembly) has raised concerns that despite recent legal amendments intended to empower consumers, citizens in Việt Nam still lack clarity on where and how to file complaints. The revisions to the Law on Protection of Consumer Rights have granted consumers more agency in lodging complaints and negotiating resolutions. However, the lawmaker argues that a significant gap remains in practical application, as individuals are unsure of the appropriate channels for seeking redress. Specifically, there is confusion regarding to whom complaints should be addressed and what steps follow after submitting a grievance. This ambiguity effectively undermines the purpose of the legal changes, leaving consumers without effective recourse. The representative has called for clarification regarding the designated points of contact for consumer complaints. Addressing this issue is crucial to ensuring the law’s successful implementation and bolstering consumer protection.
