The translation of the Babylonian Talmud, known as the Steinzaltz Talmud, into French has been completed, marking a historic milestone. Rabbi Meni Even-Israel, son of the late Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz, commemorated the event by discussing his father’s unique approach to Talmudic study. He highlighted how the Steinzaltz Talmud has revitalized the study of the Gemara, both in Israel and internationally. Rabbi Even-Israel also explained the historical connection between the Steinzaltz Talmud and France, noting its significance for French-speaking Jewish communities. The translation aims to make the complex text of the Talmud more accessible to a wider audience. This completion represents a continuation of Rabbi Steinsaltz’s life work, dedicated to broadening Talmudic understanding. The project underscores the enduring impact of his scholarship on Jewish learning globally.
