Yessika Sutawijaya, 45, lived for decades with neurofibromatosis, a rare genetic condition, without connecting with anyone else who shared her experience. After finally meeting another individual with the same condition, Sutawijaya was inspired to create a supportive community for others. She has co-founded a support group aimed at combating the isolation often felt by those with rare diseases. The group provides a space for individuals to share experiences and find understanding. Sutawijaya hopes to offer the support and connection she lacked during her own long journey. This initiative addresses a crucial need for individuals navigating the challenges of a rare diagnosis. The new community aims to empower those affected by neurofibromatosis and foster a sense of belonging.
