Ricardo Chaneton, the first Venezuelan chef to earn and retain a Michelin star for his Hong Kong restaurant Mono, recently returned to Venezuela. He headlined “Sabores del Alma,” a two-night culinary event hosted by Bancamiga and Mastercard at the Tobiko restaurant in Caracas’ Tamanaco Hotel. Chaneton arrived after a 30-hour journey, accompanied by two sous chefs flown in from China. The event featured a dynamic menu refined up to 48 hours before service. Chaneton’s visit signifies more than a single dinner; it represents a reconnection with his culinary roots and a showcase of international acclaim for Venezuelan gastronomy. He expressed feeling a strong positive connection to his home country during the event.
