US Ambassador to Bangladesh, Brent T. Christensen, visited Rajshahi on Tuesday, June 16th, and sampled the region’s renowned “kalai ruti,” a traditional flatbread. During a visit to the historic “Ruman Kalai House” in the city’s New Market area, Ambassador Christensen publicly praised the taste of the kalai ruti, describing it as “darun moja” – meaning “great fun” or “delicious.” He also observed the preparation process of the bread and took photographs. The ambassador’s visit and positive comments highlight the cultural significance of local cuisine in Rajshahi. This engagement aims to foster cultural exchange and strengthen ties between the United States and Bangladesh. The kalai ruti is a popular local delicacy known for its unique preparation and flavor.
