Wheat production in Bolu, Turkey has seen a significant increase thanks to the implementation of agroecological practices. According to Ayşegül Selışık, Deputy Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Turkey, wheat yields have doubled. Previously averaging between 200-250 kilograms per decare, yields have now reached 550 kilograms per decare. This substantial improvement is directly attributed to the adoption of agroecological methods in the region’s farming. The FAO representative highlighted the success as a positive outcome of sustainable agricultural techniques. This increase in yield demonstrates the potential for boosting food production through environmentally conscious farming approaches. The development offers a model for other regions seeking to improve agricultural output while minimizing environmental impact.
