A phenomenon dubbed “Tiara Syndrome” is silently impeding the progress of women toward leadership positions. This syndrome stems from the belief that strong work performance should automatically lead to recognition and advancement, without the need for self-promotion. However, experts argue that simply completing tasks isn’t enough; women must actively develop skills in influence and relationship building. Effectively communicating the impact of their work is also crucial for visibility and career progression. Overcoming this hurdle requires a conscious effort to showcase accomplishments and advocate for oneself. Failing to do so can leave talented women overlooked for opportunities despite their capabilities and contributions. This highlights a need for organizations to address systemic biases and empower women to confidently articulate their value.
