Three National University of Singapore (NUS) students developed an artificial intelligence tool named Ren designed to assist teachers with grading and providing feedback. The AI aims to reduce the substantial workload faced by educators, particularly regarding assessment tasks. Ren is currently undergoing pilot testing across eleven educational institutions in Singapore. The tool’s functionality focuses on automating aspects of the marking process and delivering constructive feedback to students. Developers hope Ren will allow teachers to dedicate more time to personalized instruction and student engagement. The pilot program will assess the tool’s effectiveness and gather feedback for further refinement and potential wider implementation. This initiative highlights a student-led approach to addressing challenges within the education system through technological innovation.
