A recent Swedish consumer test by Råd och Rön revealed significant differences in the quality and health impact of various digestive biscuit brands. The study, which analyzed 14 biscuit varieties, found that those containing palm oil had a higher concentration of harmful substances compared to those baked with oils like sunflower oil. Notably, biscuits utilizing palm oil also received lower taste ratings from testers. The original digestive biscuit recipe performed the worst in the taste test. These findings suggest consumers should be mindful of ingredients when selecting digestive biscuits. The key determinant of biscuit quality appears to be the type of oil used in production. This research provides valuable information for health-conscious shoppers.
