Yahya Al Hamarna, a Palestinian writer, scholar, and refugee from the Gaza Strip, uses his work to preserve the stories and experiences threatened by violence. Educated in political science and international relations at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, his writing focuses on human rights, justice, and global politics, while his poetry delves into themes of war, exile, love, and survival. Al Hamarna’s work aims to deeply embed memories into Palestine’s contemporary consciousness by documenting often-overlooked details of daily life. His debut poetry collection, *My Voice Cannot Be Bombed*, will be published by Iskra Books in 2025, with excerpts already circulating widely on social media. Recent French translations, translated by Elissa Kayal, Nada Sattouf, and Alycia Dufour, have been released by Éditions de la Rue Dorion in Quebec and Burn∼Août in France, expanding the reach of his powerful poetry. He views writing as a final defense against erasure.
