Pakistan is planning to train and deploy between 300,000 and 400,000 workers to support projects related to the 2034 FIFA World Cup, aiming to bolster its economy and international labor market position. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader strategy to increase overseas employment and improve worker skills, with a focus on infrastructure, aviation, tourism, and service sectors between 2026 and 2034. Over 215,000 workers have already received soft-skills training to enhance their global employability. Since 1972, over 15 million Pakistanis have found employment abroad through official channels, primarily in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Saudi Arabia remains the dominant destination, accounting for nearly 70% of overseas employment registrations in 2025, driven by its Vision 2030 program. Remittances from these workers are a crucial source of foreign exchange for Pakistan, second only to exports.
