Pakistan’s Supreme Court has ordered officials from Adiala jail, the Punjab government, and legal representatives from Islamabad and Punjab to respond within three weeks regarding allegations of restricted access to former Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently incarcerated. The order stems from an appeal filed by PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, challenging a previous Islamabad High Court decision dismissing a contempt petition. Raja argued the High Court relied solely on the jail superintendent’s claims of compliance with visitation directives, without verifying implementation. The petition alleges a failure to uphold Khan’s right to regular meetings with his legal team and nominated coordinators, as previously ordered by the High Court in March 2025. The Supreme Court bench indicated the appeal will be scheduled for a hearing within the three-week timeframe, requesting the High Court’s order be submitted as part of the proceedings. The core issue centers on whether Khan is being granted the visitation rights mandated by the courts.
