Years-long failures of escalators in the Lisbon Metro system have prompted an investigation into their maintenance procedures. The Observador newspaper examined how the maintenance of these escalators currently functions and what changes are being implemented. Several escalators have been out of service for over three years, causing significant inconvenience to passengers. The investigation aims to understand the reasons behind these lengthy repair times and identify potential solutions. Concerns are rising regarding the efficiency and effectiveness of the current maintenance contracts.
