A new study by Genesis Analytics reveals that nearly half of Kyrgyz children aged three to six are not enrolled in formal preschool education. While preschool enrollment has risen over the past decade, significant disparities persist, particularly in rural communities and among families with lower incomes. The “Generation 2025” study highlights a continuing challenge in providing early childhood education to a substantial portion of the country’s youngest population. This lack of access potentially impacts future educational outcomes and contributes to existing inequalities. Researchers emphasize the need for targeted interventions to improve preschool availability and affordability, especially for vulnerable groups. The findings underscore the importance of expanding early childhood development programs throughout Kyrgyzstan. Addressing this gap is crucial for ensuring equitable opportunities for all children.
