Internal turmoil continues at the Netherlands’ Public Prosecution Service (OM), as a task force created to address organizational problems has disbanded. Members cited unsustainable workloads as preventing them from contributing to improvements. A leaked internal letter reveals dissatisfaction with the leadership of Prosecutor-General Rinus Otte, alleging a lack of prioritization for employee well-being. This follows a November letter signed by 3,000 employees detailing concerns about deficient IT systems, high workloads, and budget cuts. While some IT improvements have been made, staff report ongoing issues with ineffective systems and unfilled vacancies contributing to continued high stress and absenteeism. The Dutch Association for the Judiciary previously raised similar alarms regarding IT and workload challenges. The staff express a sense of distance from leadership and a lack of responsiveness to their concerns.
