Uganda is being encouraged to formulate its own national Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Plan, inspired by the UK’s recent initiative. Experts suggest adapting strategies to the specific Ugandan context is crucial for successful AI implementation. The call follows the global rise of AI since 2022 and recognizes its potential impact on various sectors. Currently, Uganda lacks a dedicated framework to harness the opportunities presented by AI technologies. Developing such a plan would allow the country to proactively address challenges and maximize benefits. The need for a localized approach emphasizes the importance of considering Uganda’s unique needs and resources. This initiative aims to position Uganda to effectively participate in the evolving AI landscape.
