Uganda is being encouraged to formulate its own national Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Plan, inspired by the United Kingdom’s recently launched strategy. The call comes as AI technology rapidly develops globally, with implications for various sectors. Experts suggest Uganda needs a tailored plan to harness AI’s potential while addressing local challenges and opportunities. The UK’s plan focuses on fostering AI innovation and responsible deployment. Currently, Uganda lacks a comprehensive framework for AI development and regulation. Developing such a plan would position Uganda to benefit from AI advancements and mitigate potential risks, ensuring the technology serves national interests.
