Reporters Without Borders (RSF) reports Turkey presents a paradoxical situation for journalists. While offering shelter to at least 46 reporters fleeing conflict in Afghanistan, Palestine, and Syria, the country simultaneously forces its own journalists into exile. This trend is linked to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s government’s increasing suppression of independent media. The report highlights Turkey as both a refuge and a source of media displacement. RSF indicates a widening gap between the treatment of foreign and domestic journalists within Turkey. This situation raises concerns about press freedom and the safety of reporters operating within the country. The findings were published by Turkish Minute on Friday.
