Summer holidays are seeing an increase in railway accidents involving children and teenagers. These incidents often occur when individuals trespass on railway tracks or attempt to climb on train cars, exposing them to risks such as falls and electrocution from overhead power lines. Railway officials warn that the voltage from these lines—25,000 volts—is significantly higher than household current, posing a lethal threat. While seeking photos for social media is a contributing factor, risky behavior is observed across various age groups. Last year, the railway inspection authority dealt with over a thousand incidents, resulting in the deaths of thirteen people under the age of eighteen. Authorities are urging increased vigilance and caution near railway lines to prevent further tragedies.
