A recent audit revealed that Tanzanian local councils distributed only 41 percent of government-designated empowerment loans to women, youth, and people with disabilities. In response, the College of Business Education (CBE) has launched a new training program for local government officials. The program aims to improve the effective management and distribution of these loans, ensuring they reach the intended beneficiaries. This initiative seeks to address the disparity highlighted in the Controller and Auditor General’s (CAG) 2024/25 report. By equipping council officials with specialized skills, the CBE hopes to bolster the success of the government’s empowerment programs. The training focuses on strategies to better identify and support eligible individuals within these historically marginalized groups. Ultimately, the goal is to increase equitable access to financial resources and promote economic inclusion.
