A group in Östersund, Jämtland, Sweden, has launched a “lifestyle safari” to attract new residents and address local labor shortages. The initiative, spearheaded by Johan Ranbrandt of Gomorron Östersund and Jämtland Calling, aims to showcase the benefits of living and working in the region. Participants spend several days experiencing daily life as a Jämtland resident. The program was created to prevent companies from poaching employees from one another, a situation described as “cannibalization” by Ranbrandt. Organizers hope the immersive experience will entice individuals to relocate and contribute to the local economy. The safari focuses on demonstrating the appeal of the Jämtland lifestyle to potential newcomers.
