A Slovak court has faced criticism after releasing Ivan Hazucha, a convicted sex offender featured in the documentary "V Sieti," without mandating treatment. A 2022 expert assessment determined Hazucha did not have a sexual deviation, leading to his release from a two-year prison sentence in August 2024 with no supervision. However, Hazucha was re-arrested in Ružomberok by Žilina police on Sunday after being caught continuing to contact potential victims. The apprehension was made by Czech “predator hunters” Tomáš Waluš and Václav Formánek, who had been monitoring him. This case raises serious questions about the reliance on the initial expert opinion and the lack of preventative measures taken following his release. The incident highlights the dangers of online predation and concerns regarding the protection of vulnerable individuals.
