A new survey conducted by the PAP Women’s Wing and NTUC Women and Family in Singapore reveals that working women face distinct challenges depending on their life stage. Women early in their careers commonly report experiencing burnout. Those with caregiving responsibilities found flexible work arrangements to be a valuable form of workplace support. However, the survey highlighted a significant gap in support for women experiencing perimenopause or menopause, with only one in ten feeling comfortable discussing their symptoms or seeking help at their workplace. This indicates a need for greater awareness and openness regarding these issues within Singaporean companies. The findings underscore the importance of tailored workplace policies to address the diverse needs of women throughout their professional lives in Singapore. The data suggests a clear disparity in support systems available to different generations of working women in Singapore.
