A Dutch police officer will not face charges after fatally shooting a 15-year-old boy following an e-bike robbery in Capelle aan den IJssel last September. Prosecutors concluded the officer acted lawfully and in accordance with police guidelines during the incident. The shooting occurred after officers responded to a report of a robbery where a firearm was allegedly used. During the encounter, the suspect fled, prompting the officer to fire warning shots into the air. When the suspect continued to run and turned towards the officer with what appeared to be a loaded weapon, the officer fired, ultimately hitting the teen in the chest. Investigations confirmed the suspect was indeed carrying a loaded firearm. Prosecutors determined the officer reasonably feared for their life, justifying the use of force.
