Marking the 900th anniversary of his birth, the legacy of the Andalusian philosopher Averroes is being celebrated through poetry. One hundred and twenty poets from fourteen countries are participating in a commemorative event, including contributions from North African poets. The initiative, described as an international literary undertaking, aims to honor Averroes—or Ibn Rushd—as a globally significant figure. This “poetic anthology” recognizes his contributions as a philosopher from Cordoba and Marrakech. The event highlights the enduring impact of Averroes’ work centuries after his life. The project was detailed by participant Abdellaziz Koukas.
