Illegal websites and books are widely available in Vietnam, significantly impacting the publishing industry. The proliferation of pirated materials is causing substantial financial losses for legitimate publishers. During a recent discussion, multiple delegates called for amendments to the existing Publication Law to address loopholes and strengthen copyright protection. Concerns were raised about the difficulty and cost of pursuing legal action against copyright infringers, with one delegate stating that by the time a case is won, the damage is already done. The proposed legal changes aim to provide more effective mechanisms for enforcing copyright and deterring piracy. Industry stakeholders are hopeful that revised legislation will help safeguard intellectual property rights and support the sustainable development of the publishing sector.
