French police unexpectedly recovered a stolen Picasso painting during a drug raid in a Paris suburb on Monday. The raid, targeting a relative of a suspected drug dealer, initially yielded 20 kilograms of cannabis and a significant amount of cash. However, officers also discovered a portrait of Marie-Thérèse Walter, a muse of Picasso, believed to have been stolen from a Paris storage facility. The artwork is estimated to be worth millions of euros. Authorities have launched an investigation into the theft, separate from the drug-related charges. Four individuals have been arrested in connection with both investigations. The discovery was reported by Le Parisien newspaper, which detailed the painting’s provenance.
