Philosopher S.Molor-Erdene has been detained since September 2nd, accused of a crime under the special section of the Criminal Code relating to “undermining national unity.” Today, the District Criminal and Civil Case Court of First Instance in Ulaanbaatar ruled to lift the detention order following a request from S.Molor-Erdene’s lawyers. However, the court imposed restrictions preventing him from leaving the territory of Ulaanbaatar city and from crossing the border of Mongolia. The decision also prohibits contact with other individuals involved in the case. The court reviewed a proposal from the Prosecutor’s Office of the Capital City to extend the detention but ultimately ruled in favor of modifying the preventative measure due to evidence in the case and the defendant’s health. Chief Judge B.Khaliun provided a summary of the court's decision.
