The Peshawar High Court (PHC) intervened to prevent the deportation of a Pakistani citizen named ‘Quaid-e-Azam’ whose national identity card was blocked. The court directed him to appear before a verification board at the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra). The petitioner, a businessman operating in both Pakistan and Dubai, argued the blocked ID caused him significant hardship, impeding his ability to conduct business and pay taxes. His lawyer stated Nadra is now requesting his uncle’s presence for verification, despite other family members holding valid Pakistani IDs. Nadra defended the block, citing suspicions surrounding the petitioner’s identity. The PHC issued a stay of deportation pending the outcome of the Nadra verification process, acknowledging the citizen’s claim to Pakistani nationality.
