A simulation re-imagined the FIFA World Cup, ranking countries not by athletic prowess but by macroeconomic performance. The analysis, conducted by Anif, used economic indicators to determine a champion based on national economic strength. According to this alternative metric, Norway would be crowned the winner for 2023. The simulation considered the economic performance of all countries that qualified for the World Cup. This unconventional approach offers a novel perspective on national success, shifting focus from sports to economic indicators. The results highlight Norway’s strong economic standing relative to other competing nations. The study provides a unique, data-driven lens through which to view global economic competitiveness.
