Nepal has rejoined the global Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Index, signaling some progress in its digital infrastructure. However, a recent report reveals a significant disparity between the country's expanding infrastructure and its citizens’ actual usage of digital technologies. Despite increased access, effective utilization of these resources remains a challenge. The report underscores a widening “digital divide,” suggesting that infrastructure development isn’t automatically translating into widespread digital inclusion. This lag in usage implies potential barriers hindering Nepal’s full participation in the digital economy. Further efforts are needed to promote digital literacy and accessibility to maximize the benefits of the country's ICT investments. The findings call for strategies focused on bridging the gap between infrastructure availability and practical application.
