NATO is conducting its first large-scale medical training exercise, Vigorous Warrior, in Estonia in over two decades. The drills focus on preparing medical personnel for the realities of high-intensity combat, where they are increasingly becoming targets. Estonian military officials state that future conflicts will not allow for the same level of medical support previously seen in operations. The exercise simulates a scenario involving a large number of casualties, forcing medics to adapt to challenging conditions and prioritize care. This training aims to enhance the alliance’s medical capabilities and readiness in the region. The focus is on preparing for a potential large-scale conflict and ensuring medical staff can operate effectively under fire and with limited resources. Estonia is hosting the exercise as part of broader NATO efforts to bolster defense capabilities in Eastern Europe.
