On Tuesday, the remains of Gendarme Sergeant Vilém Leher were interred in a family grave in Vrbno pod Pradědem. Leher was one of six victims killed during pre-war unrest in the borderlands. In September 1938, radicalized German residents attacked a gendarmerie station in Liptan. Following the massacre, the victims were buried in a mass grave located in Hlubčice, within present-day Poland. After 87 years, Leher's remains were exhumed and returned to the Czech Republic. He is among the last of the victims to be repatriated.
