Moroccan translator Hassan Zekri has translated Arthur Leared’s seminal work, “Morocco and the Moroccans,” into Arabic. Published by the Jessour Center for Historical and Social Studies, the Arabic edition is titled “Morocco and the Moroccans… A Travel Narrative with a General Description of the Country and its People.” Zekri describes the book as a vitally important geographical and social document. The translation aims to add a significant work to the Arabic-language literary collection concerning Morocco. Leared’s original work is considered a key text by travelers documenting the country. This translation makes the historical account accessible to a wider Arabic-speaking readership. The project highlights efforts to preserve and disseminate important historical perspectives on Morocco.
