Mongolia occupies a crucial geopolitical and geoeconomic position at the intersection of Northeast and Central Asia. This vast Eurasian space encompasses Mongolia, Russia, Central Asia, China, Japan, and South Korea, representing approximately $30 trillion in GDP and a population of 1.8 billion – nearly a quarter of the world’s total population. The interconnectedness of nations within this region is increasing, making self-reliance in development and security unattainable for even the most powerful countries, including the US, Russia, and China. Mongolia is increasingly recognized not as a small player, but as a dynamic force – described as “The Galloping Asian Steed” – facilitating regional cooperation. The European Union acknowledges Mongolia as a valuable partner in Asia, citing its unique geopolitical and geostrategic location, and has committed to establishing a comprehensive trade agreement. Mongolia’s role as a transit country is becoming increasingly vital in the context of evolving global dynamics and regional interdependence.
