Mongolia’s parliament has approved amendments to its road safety law, imposing new regulations on e-scooter and moped use. Effective July 1st, individuals under 18 are prohibited from riding e-scooters. The law dictates that e-scooters are to utilize bike lanes where available, and if not, the rightmost lane of roadways. Parking restrictions are also included, prohibiting obstruction of pedestrian or vehicle traffic, with violations subject to fines. Parents or guardians will be held accountable for any infractions committed by children under 18, facing fines of 200,000 Mongolian Togrog (approximately $70 USD). The legislation also mandates the registration of approximately 1,300 e-scooters currently operated by seven companies within the country.
