A moderate earthquake struck off the coast of Iwate Prefecture, Japan, at 8:58 PM local time on February 25th. The earthquake registered a magnitude of 4.7 and a depth of 50 kilometers. A shaking intensity of 4 was recorded in Sanbu-Kitaup, Aomori Prefecture, while a level 3 intensity was observed in inland northern Iwate Prefecture. Japanese authorities have confirmed there is no risk of a tsunami resulting from the seismic activity. Currently, these are the only areas reporting shaking intensities of 3 or higher.
