Norway’s Mental Health hotline received 15,000 calls and 10,000 chat messages between June 19th and July 20th this summer, indicating a significant increase in people struggling with their mental wellbeing. Team leader Ida explains that many individuals experience difficulties during the summer period, citing general mental health concerns, suicidal thoughts, and relationship issues as common reasons for contact. Financial worries are also a growing concern for callers. The hotline has also seen increased contact from individuals concerned about reduced access to regular healthcare providers during the holiday season, as well as concerned family members. Mental Health emphasizes that their hotline is available 24/7, offering anonymous and free support. They encourage people to reach out even if their struggles don't seem significant.
