The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRB) will require all new applications seeking tax exemption under Section 44(6) of the Income Tax Act 1967 to be submitted via the e-Derma online platform, beginning June 15, 2026. This applies to all institutions and organizations (IOs) applying for approval. The move aims to streamline the application process and enhance efficiency in handling these requests. Currently, applications are likely submitted through a manual process. The IRB has not detailed any changes to the application criteria, only the method of submission. This digital transition is expected to improve transparency and accountability in the tax exemption approval process. Institutions and organizations are advised to familiarize themselves with the e-Derma system prior to the implementation date.
