Historians are investigating the lost Gaelic dialect once spoken in County Wexford, Ireland, as no formal record of it remains. Dr. Conchubhar Ó Crualaoich, a native of Wexford town and co-author of *Gaelic Wexford: 1400 – 1660*, was interviewed regarding the potential existence and nature of this dialect. The research aims to determine if the Wexford Gaelic language has been entirely lost or if traces still exist. The investigation also considers other languages spoken alongside Gaelic in the county during that period. This project is part of the Trust Project, emphasizing a commitment to journalistic ethics and transparency, with details available at independent.ie/ourjournalism. The goal is to uncover and document the linguistic history of the region.
