A musical instrument originating in Africa and arriving in Guanacaste, Central America, faced decades of obscurity, narrowly avoiding complete extinction. Unlike more well-known instruments like the marimba or the quijongo, it remained largely forgotten. However, a dedicated individual, hailed as a “heroine”, has successfully revived the instrument.
