The Anti-FGM Board of Kenya has moved to encourage reporting of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) incidents by guaranteeing strict confidentiality for whistleblowers. This assurance aims to protect individuals who come forward with information from potential retaliation within their communities. Joseline Katunge, Assistant Director of Programmes at the Anti-FGM Board, made the pledge during a recent community sensitisation forum for Community Health… personnel. The Board recognizes the sensitive nature of reporting FGM and the risks faced by those who speak out against the practice. This initiative is a crucial step towards eradicating FGM in Kenya by empowering individuals to safely share information. By safeguarding the identities of informants, authorities hope to gather more intelligence and effectively prosecute perpetrators. The move signals a strengthened commitment to ending FGM across Kenya.
