Scientists in the Czech Republic have observed a rise in non-native fungi and oomycetes, organisms that damage both forests and agricultural crops. A comprehensive list of these organisms has been compiled, revealing an increasing trend over recent decades. The Research Institute for Landscape (VÚK) attributes the introduction of many of these species to unintentional import through international trade of live plants and plant material. These invasive species pose a growing concern for the health of Czech ecosystems and agricultural productivity. Researchers emphasize the need for continued monitoring and preventative measures to mitigate the spread of these harmful organisms.
