Indonesia has been urged to retain complete control over the planned maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) center for C-130 Hercules aircraft at Kertajati. The facility is intended to serve as a strategic hub for ensuring the airworthiness of the nation's transport fleet. Experts emphasize that domestic management is crucial to prevent foreign dependency and protect national security interests. By maintaining full authority, Indonesia can better manage its military logistics and technical capabilities. The center is expected to reduce the need for sending aircraft abroad for critical repairs. This move would either lower operational costs or increase the efficiency of the Indonesian Air Force. Consequently, the project represents a significant step toward achieving greater aerospace autonomy.
