Work has been suspended at three CATL battery component manufacturing facilities in Debrecen, Hungary, following the detection of elevated nickel levels in multiple employees. The exposure levels prompted an investigation and subsequent work stoppage to ensure worker safety. MP Enikő Tompa has confirmed that proceedings are underway to determine and impose fines related to the incident. The extent of the health impacts on affected workers is currently being assessed. This raises concerns about occupational health standards at the plant, a significant investment for the electric vehicle battery producer. Authorities are prioritizing the well-being of employees and addressing potential environmental and safety protocols. The suspension will remain in effect until corrective measures are implemented and approved.
