A heatwave in South Bohemia drew hundreds of rafters to the Vltava River. The stretch between Vyšší Brod and Rožmberk nad Vltavou became exceptionally busy, particularly around the Herbertov weir. Significant congestion formed, with lines of boats and several capsized canoes and rafts reported. A photographer for iDNES.cz documented the scene, describing the river as a “rafting highway.” The high temperatures clearly motivated many to seek recreation on the water. Authorities have not reported any serious incidents related to the crowding. The Vltava is a popular destination for water sports during warmer months, but this year’s heatwave amplified the activity.
