Thousands of Israelis faced significant travel disruptions Tuesday as Haredi protesters blocked major highways and rail lines across the country. The demonstrations, organized by the extremist Jerusalem Faction, lasted approximately two hours and caused widespread traffic congestion. The protests were triggered by the recent detention of nineteen Haredi men who were arrested during a disturbance at the home of a justice official. This action is the latest in a series of escalating demonstrations against state policies regarding ultra-Orthodox military service. Authorities allowed the protests to continue for a period before intervening to reopen the roads and restore rail service. The Jerusalem Faction has vowed further action if their demands regarding the release of the detainees are not met.
